Aspiring companies like Ford, too, in the sixties opted to join hands with Shelby automobiles and the Hertz Corporation to create a master piece car – The Ford Shelby GT-H Mustang. The partnership of these companies resulted in manufacturing 500 units of the said car, its car parts and accessories.

Out of these 500, 499 cars were prepared for the joint ventures rental program. The 500th car was offered for sale at the auction held during the EAA Air Venture, the bagged US$250,000 during this auction.
