Take the lead – Is Toyota set and ready

19 June 2007

The heat is on. It seems that the fight between Toyota and the General Motors to take the first place for being the world largest automaker is in its final stages. Very clearly, Toyota is all set to grab the title this year. The rising sales auto parts, accessories and cars of Toyota have made it possible for the company to achieve the top slot.

In the year 2006 Toyota manufactured 9 million vehicles falling short by just 160,000 automobile manufactured by the giant The General Motors. The 9.5 % increase in the sales of Toyota includes sales of its sister companies Daihatsu and Hino. On the other hand GM registered an increase in sales by 9.18%.

The rise in the sales of cars was registered even though the Toyota, Honda, Nissan and other Japanese car manufactures faced a slump in the domestic market. In China the sales of cars jumped up by 7 million vehicles while in Japan registered a decline by approximately 5.7 million.

Honda and Nissan have also joined this race. Honda’s sales have also marked a sharp rise due to the success of Honda’s Civic. Honda’s production sharply declined in the year 2004 but recently the auto manufacturer has reported an increase of 6.6%.

Stable market of Toyota cars, parts and accessories, the rising demand for its cars and new products that are being launched by the reputed auto maker has sent out clear sentiment that Toyota is well set to take over General Motors position of being the worlds largest auto maker.
